Charlotte’s Country Wedding

Charlotte’s wedding in April took place at the beautifully rustic Curradine Barns in Worcestershire. The venue was perfect for the country wedding Charlotte had planned, where tables were filled with vases of daisies and the cake was the biggest victoria sponge cake I’ve ever seen!

As Charlotte is a vet and usually wears no make up I kept her look simple and natural, focusing on creating flawless and glowing skin and minimalistic eye make up. She wanted her hair to look soft and not too severe so I swept it into a side bun of teased out, tousled curls. The style was completed with Charlotte’s beautiful diamante and pearl hair clip and pearl pins similar to these.

Beautiful 30s inspired hair and make up at Christian Dior SS12

My current kit staple is this amazing concealer wand from NYX Cosmetics which I’ve been using on all my brides as well as myself. The texture is really light and creamy so perfect for under the eyes and the matte finish means it doesn’t glare under flash photography. They’re so highly pigmented that they can be used to cover spots and blemishes too without looking cakey. And at £5 they’re a bargain too!

Romantic Updo For Long Hair

This soft style is perfect for brides with long layered hair. The curls are teased into a low bun for a tousled, relaxed look. Once pinned in place, the hair can be easily accessorised with a clip, comb or flowers like the picture.

Deciding on a wedding hair and make up look can be a daunting task for a bride, especially if a full face of make up isn’t part of your daily routine. As a bride you should look and feel like a more polished version of yourself on your wedding day. Bridal magazines are a good place to start looking for inspiration but you shouldn’t stop there. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Flowers

The main splash of colour in your outfit will come from your bouquet so why not tie it into your make up? Golds and creams can be teamed with chocolate browns for elegant and sophisticated eye make up, while a matching pink or red would work well on cheeks and lips.

Venue

Are you getting married in a country church, a grand stately home or an urban hotel? It’s important that your style doesn’t look out of place in the photographs so choose accordingly. Soft curls and a natural face suit a rustic setting while simple, clean hair and stronger make up look great in modern surroundings.

The Red Carpet

This is where fashion trends and classic beauty mix really well so it’s a great place for wedding inspiration. Choose a celebrity with similar hair and colouring to yourself and see how she styles herself on the red carpet.

The Big Screen

Cried over Titanic, Atonement or Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Some of the most iconic beauty images come from Hollywood and are easily adapted into a wedding look.
